Radius Indiana’s Big Move to 813 16th Street: Boosting Bedford’s Future

Radius Indiana, the powerhouse behind economic growth in South Central Indiana, has officially settled into its new home at 813 16th Street in Bedford. This move marks an exciting chapter for the organization and the community, with a freshly remodeled office space signaling bigger plans to spark jobs, support businesses, and make Bedford an even better place to live. After years at 1504 I Street, Radius is doubling down on its commitment to Lawrence County with a modern hub designed to bring people together and drive progress.

A Fresh Start in the Heart of Bedford

The move to 813 16th Street wasn’t just about a change of address—it was about creating a space that matches Radius Indiana’s ambitious vision. In January 2025, the organization invested $50,000 in a commercial remodel of the new office, turning it into a welcoming spot for collaboration and innovation. “This new location puts us right in the heart of Bedford’s bustling downtown, closer to the businesses and leaders we serve,” says Jeff Quyle, President and CEO of Radius Indiana. “It’s a place where ideas can take root and grow.”

The remodel, approved by the City of Bedford, transformed the building into a modern office with open meeting areas, updated technology, and a design that reflects Bedford’s limestone heritage. Kim Box, Radius’s Business Office Manager, shared her excitement: “We wanted a space that feels inviting for everyone—business owners, community leaders, or folks just curious about what we do. This office is a game-changer for how we connect with the community.”

Why 16th Street? Location, Location, Location

Choosing 813 16th Street was no accident. Located along Bedford’s busy 16th Street corridor, the new office is steps away from key businesses, restaurants, and the historic downtown square. “Being on 16th Street gives us a front-row seat to Bedford’s growth,” says Sam Craig, Mayor of Bedford and a Radius board member. “Radius is here to help shape that growth, and this spot makes it easier to stay plugged into the community.”

The move also aligns with Radius’s role in the Spark Downtown program, which is all about revitalizing downtown areas like Bedford’s. By setting up shop in a newly renovated building, Radius is practicing what it preaches—investing in the community’s core to make it more attractive for businesses and residents. “We’re not just talking about downtown revival; we’re living it,” Quyle adds.

What’s the Plan for Bedford?

So, what’s Radius Indiana planning to do from its shiny new office? In simple terms, they’re working to make Bedford a place where businesses want to set up shop, people want to work, and families want to stay. Here’s the breakdown:

  • Helping Businesses Grow: Radius is like a matchmaker for businesses, connecting them with resources, funding, and opportunities. From their new office, they’ll keep running programs like the Business Retention and Expansion initiative, which checks in with local companies to see what they need to thrive. They’re also pushing the Regional Impact Fund, which has already pumped over $3 million into area businesses for things like job creation and site development.

  • Bringing in New Jobs: Radius is laser-focused on attracting new employers to Bedford, especially in manufacturing, defense, and tourism. Their Choose Southern Indiana program offers $5,000 to skilled workers who move here, helping fill jobs at places like NSA Crane and local factories. “We’re making Bedford a magnet for talent,” says Blaine Parker, Radius’s Small Business and Community Development Manager.

  • Boosting Downtown Bedford: The new office will be a hub for the Spark Downtown program, which helps local shops spruce up their storefronts with low-interest loans. Radius is also supporting big projects like the Monon South Trail, a nearly 60-mile path that’s expected to bring tourists and dollars to Bedford’s businesses. An economic impact study released in April 2025 showed the trail’s potential to supercharge local economies.

  • Training Leaders: Radius isn’t just about businesses—it’s about people. From 813 16th Street, they’ll host more of their popular Economic Development for Community Leadership Program, which has trained nearly 100 leaders since 2017. They’re also planning to expand the Elected Officials Economic Development Webinar Series to help local officials make smart decisions for Bedford’s future.

  • Supporting NSA Crane and Beyond: While Radius is a key partner for NSA Crane, helping connect defense contractors and workers, their work touches every corner of Bedford. “Crane is a big part of what we do, but we’re just as passionate about helping mom-and-pop shops or startups,” says Sadie Miskuf, Radius’s Regional Main Street Director.

A Bright Future for Bedford

The move to 813 16th Street is more than a new address—it’s a bold statement about Radius Indiana’s belief in Bedford’s potential. “This office is where we’ll plan the next big wins for our community,” Quyle says. “Whether it’s landing a new manufacturer, fixing up a downtown storefront, or helping a family relocate here, we’re all in for Bedford.”

For locals, the new office is a place to drop by, ask questions, or pitch ideas. It’s a symbol of Radius’s promise to keep Bedford growing while staying true to its small-town roots. As Mayor Craig puts it, “Radius Indiana’s move to 16th Street is a win for all of us. It’s proof that Bedford is on the move, and we’re just getting started.”
